Tampa, FL March 10, 2010 AAA Auto Club South and Budweiser will protect roadways on St. Patrick’s Day weekend with the ‘Tow to Go’ program that is credited with safely removing more than 11,200 drunk drivers off the roads since it started in 1998. Anyone can call for a ‘Tow to Go’ ride Friday through Wednesday, March 12 – 17.

Tampa, FL March 7, 2010 The price of crude oil increased further amid positive economic news, closing at $81.50 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Reports from the U.S. Labor Department stated unemployment rose less than forecast showing further signs of economic recovery. The continued positive news bolstered investor expectations that U.S. fuel demand is on the rise.
RETAIL GAS PRICES SPIKE AS PRICE OF CRUDE CONTINUES TO RISE
Tampa, FL February 28, 2010 Across the nation, consumers watched the price of retail gasoline increase upwards of 10 cents in some markets. The spike in retail prices is a response to crude oil increasing after reports showed the U.S. economy grew more than expected in the last quarter of 2009—at a 5.9 percent annual rate, up from the 5.7 percent forecast. In addition, the Commerce Department said the gross domestic product gained the most in six years, which led Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernake to say the U.S. economy is in the "nascent" or beginning of a recovery.
CRUDE OIL RISES TO HIGHEST PRICE IN FIVE WEEKS AND RETAIL GASOLINE PRICES INCREASE
Tampa, FL February 21, 2010 Crude oil closed at its highest price in five weeks amid concerns future gasoline supplies may tighten in response to an ongoing strike by Total S.A. French refinery workers that began Wednesday, Feb. 17. The local union also called for strikes at Exxon Mobil Corp.’s plants in Normandy and Southern France to begin Tuesday, Feb. 23; however, nothing has been confirmed.

Gasoline inventories rose more than three million barrels last week, while U.S. fuel consumption dropped 1.8 percent. Crude oil on the New York Mercantile Exchange closed Friday at $74.54 per barrel; the lowest since December 22.

AAA Conducted On-Site Distracted Driving Surveys At Ponte Vedra High School To Bring Attention To Teen Driver Behavior
Ponte Vedra FL October 20, 2009 This morning AAA conducted an observational survey of 271 student drivers at Ponte Vedra High School as they entered the student parking lot. Interestingly, the observed behaviors were not as dangerous as the distracted behaviors to which the students admitted in a written survey last week. For example, in the written survey 91 percent admitted talking on a cell phone while driving and 84 percent admitted to texting while driving, yet only 11 percent were observed engaging in these or other distracted behaviors.
